ZOON POLITIKON (9/2018):

Call for papers – Migration

Call for papers – Post-Truth

Zoon Politikon is an international peer-reviewed journal that is published annually and aims to refer to the Aristotelian tradition of thinking about the humanities, social affairs and public life. Its profile is the result of reflection on the tradition and modernity of the surrounding world from the perspective of the broader public awareness, active participation in public life and the dissemination of good practice in this area. Zoon Politikon is an interdisciplinary journal which has it origin in the multiplicity of experience, diversity of disciplines, different ways of thinking about community issues and communities in the postmodern world. The dominant perspective is the experience of the sociology of public life and public pedagogy with numerous references to the inspiration from the areas of social psychology, philosophy, political theory and the theory of culture.

Zoon Politikon has been launched in 2010 and keeps being published regularly ever since. The first five issues of the journal were released as part of the “Let’s decide together” project (polish: “Decydujmy Razem”) co-financed by European Social Fund. In 2015, Zoon Politikon has been handed over to Collegium Civitas, which became its main publisher.

We also encourage authors to submit reviews, polemics and comments of up to 0.5 worksheet that will be published after undergoing an internal editorial evaluation. Texts (in the format indicated in the GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS) should be sent as an attachment to: zoonpolitikon@civitas.edu.pl.

Authorship

Since the beginning of Zoon Politikon, we obey the fundamental standards of scientific integrity and honesty. We ask authors to attach as an annex a statement that they are sending their own work, which has not been previously published anywhere in the whole, and that other journals do not consider printing it while the selection procedure is being conducted by the Zoon Politikon editorial team.

If parts of the article were previously published, such information should appear at the beginning of the text.

Review procedure

All texts are reviewed in accordance with the following principles:

  •     each publication is assessed by internal reviewers (the editorial team) and by two external Reviewers (double peer review);
  •     editors perform the initial selection of the received texts;
  •     articles accepted for the next stage will be anonymous, that is, the name of the authors, and other elements that allow to establish their identity, will be removed;
  •     editorial team sends an anonymous article to the external reviewers together with the evaluation form;
  •     external reviewer evaluates the article on a form developed by the editorial team, on which he recommends whether the article can be published unchanged, published after changes or rejected;
  •     identity of the reviewers of individual texts is not disclosed.

The main criteria that the reviewers follow during the evaluation are:

  •     originality of the problem and its contribution to the current state of knowledge on a particular topic;
  •     logical consistency and clarity of argument;
  •     clarity and certainty of the posed theses and arguments;
  •     embedding of the argument in the current literature on the subject and support of the theses by the relevant bibliography;
  •     correct language.

We invite you to read the Review Form.

Guidelines for Authors

We ask the authors to prepare texts in accordance with the instructions contained in the document GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS
For any text please include information about the author, which does not exceed 400 characters, including (next to the name) institutional affiliation of the author, mailing address, e-mail, research interests.

Results Replication Policy

Zoon Politikon’s editorial team encourages authors to allow other researchers to replicate the results of statistical analysis. Authors of articles using quantitative data are expected to provide data, as well as the script documenting conducted transformation of the source data and statistical analysis to other interested researchers, eg. by indicating the URL of the repository (eg. GitHub). All addresses of the external websites containing such information should be indicated by authors in a footnote. Along with the manuscript, authors should submit scripts and URL of data to allow the replication of the results of statistical analysis or indicate when such materials will be available (or justify why they can not be made available).
