PhD and Continuing Education Programs
PhD Programs
Collegium Civitas offers a PhD Program in Sociology. A Doctoral Program in Political Science is offered jointly by Collegium Civitas and the Institute for Political Studies of the PolishAcademy of Sciences. The Doctoral Programs' courses are taught by the faculties of Collegium Civitas and the Institute of Political Studies. The Programs feature individualized academic guidance and are offered both in full-time and extramurral formats.
Jointly with the Institute of Slavic Languages of the PolishAcademy of Sciences, we offer a PhD program in Slavic Languages and Literature. Graduates of MA programs in Slavic Languages, Polish or other humanities subjects are invited to apply. The Program also features individualized academic guidance and is available both in full-time and extramural formats.
Non-degree and Continuing Education Programs
Diplomacy
This is a two-semester program of extramurral studies addressed to those working in international environments or considering a career in fields which require knowledge of international environments. The majority of students studying this Program are foreign office and public administration employees, military personnel or legal professionals. However, students from different backgrounds have also found the Program a rewarding experience. The Program features international diplomatic and consular law, diplomatic protocol, office technologies, the theory and practice of negotiation and English language workshops. The Program Director is Professor Maciej Koêmiƒski, former Polish ambassador to Hungary.
European Union
This is a four-semester program providing essential academic background and practical skills to those seeking to pursue careers in European Union institutions. The Program includes European Union-centered course work in Political Science, Sociology, Diplomacy, Law, History, Economics and two foreign language workshops. The Program Director is Prof. Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, Deputy Speaker of the European Parliament, Poland’s former Minister for European Integration and former president of the College of Europe in Natolin.
Management and Administration of Non-Governmental Organizations
This is a two-semester extramural program addressed to nonprofit sector professionals, public administrators working with NGOs and those considering careers in either of these fields. The Program’s focus is on an interdisciplinary background along with the practical skills required in the day-to-day management of non-governmental and social service organizations such as program funding, budgeting and personnel management. The Program Director is Professor Ewa Leś, Poland’s leading specialist on the third sector.
Lobbying
This is a one-semester program focusing on developing the skills required for those seeking to influence public or private sector decision-making in a professional manner. Program faculty includes Poland’s leading professional lobbyists and academics specializing in this area. The Program Director is Dr. Małgorzata Molęda-Zdziech.
An MA degree is required to enter any of these programs.
