Poland-Asia Research Centre, Collegium Civitas, Embassy of Japan in Poland have the honour to invite you for a lecture of our honourable guest Mr Toshiya Tsugami (Japan) entitled “Diagnosing Chinese Economy” with commentary by Jacek Bartosiak (Poland) and for debate entitled “Chinese economy in the era of new transcontinental initiatives”. The lecture, by expert from Japan, is organized due to role and meaning of China in global economy, especially for Europe and Asia.

During the meeting you will have the opportunity to be introduced to several perspectives on condition of Chinese economy, it’s new global and regional initiatives (One Belt, One Road project, 16+1 format of cooperation), and with Chinese internal economic reforms. The lecture and debate will take place 21 November at 18.00 pm in Collegium Civitas XII floor (Assembly Hall) in Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw. It will be moderated by Patrycja Pendrakowska from Poland-Asia Research Centre.

Mr. Toshiya Tsugami is the President of Tsugami Workshop Ltd., an independent China business consulting firm. Mr. Tsugami was born in 1957. After graduated from the University of Tokyo (Faculty of Law) in 1980, he served for Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and experienced China’s WTO entrance negotiation, Economic Counselor in the Embassy in Beijing and METI’s Director for Northeast Asia. He is now working as an independent China business consultant and is also one of the most famous and dispassionate Chinese Economy watchers in Japan. His book “China’s rise” won the “Suntory Prize for Social Sciences and Humanities” in 2003. His recent book “The end of China’s rise” had also a public echo in Japan.

Ph.D. Jacek Bartosiak is a Senior Fellow at the Potomac Foundation. He is an expert in grand strategy, modern warfare, maritime domain, national security. Prior to joining the Potomac team in 2015, he served as Council at the National Centre for Strategic Studies (NCSS) in Warsaw, Poland which he co-founded in 2013. Dr. Bartosiak is a law graduate from Warsaw University and a practicing law attorney and the management partner at Bartosiak & Partners specializing in international commercial transactions and business law. He has been a frequent contributor to print and broadcast media in Poland and internationally; and an advisor to parliamentary and presidential bodies on security matters. Dr. Bartosiak is a member of the Jagiellonian Club in Poland and completed his PhD at Polish Academy of Sciences on the US Air-Sea Battle Concept and its impact on the US & China geostrategies in the Western Pacific and Eurasia. The title of this book is: “The Pacific and Eurasia. On War.”
