Dr. Tomasz Płudowski specializes in American Studies, media & communication studies, and political elections. He has an MA in English and a PhD in sociology of politics. Studied political science at Columbia as well as communication at New York University as a Junior Kościuszko Foundation scholar (1997-98). Created and directed a Postgraduate Program in Journalism and Social Communication in Łódź (2000-2003). In 2005 set up the first English-language media studies journal in Poland. Senior Fulbright fellow at Stanford (2006-7). In 2009-12 was principal translator of the first Polish academic book series on digital media for the PWN Publishing House (as well as large sections of the two-volume Oxford Handbook of Political Behavior). His numerous publications include: Komunikacja polityczna w amerykańskich kampaniach wyborczych (PWN, 2008) and chapters in Ameryka: polityka, prawo, społeczeństwo (ed. Z. Lewicki, 2nd ed., 2015). Teaching at the Collegium Civitas since 2003, in the past briefly at the Jagiellonian University and the Maastricht Center for Transaltlantic Studies, among others. Currently on the faculty of the American Studies Department at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw. He loves American jazz of the 50s and 60s, Mediterranean culture, cuisine, languages, and wine, as well as the outdoors.
