Civil Resistance: Force for Rights, Alternative to Violence
Collegium Civitas
has the pleasure to invite you to a public lecture delivered by
Jack DuVall
(International Center on Nonviolent Conflict)
The lecture’s title
Civil Resistance: Force for Rights, Alternative to Violence
Civil resistance is not a new phenomenon, limited to any particular geographical region or associated with any dominant or subjugated culture. But it has only recently started gaining greater recognition by policy makers, political observers and scholars, as a strategic force to be reckoned with. Often this recognition has been spurred by the spectacle of seemingly powerful dictatorships and authoritarian regimes succumbing, not to the brute force of armed insurrections, but to the coercive nonviolent pressure of mass movements, as in countries such as the Philippines, Chile, Poland, South Africa, Serbia and Ukraine.
The lecture will be delivered in English
