PHD STUDIES AT COLLEGIUM CIVITAS

Collegium Civitas is one of a very few non-state universities in Poland that have the right to run PhD studies and award PhD degrees. Currently, it provides an opportunity to study on a PhD Program in Sociology. A Doctoral Program in International Relations is offered jointly by Collegium Civitas and the Institute of Political Studies at the Polish Academy of Sciences.

Doctoral Program courses are taught by the faculties of Collegium Civitas and the Institute of Political Studies. The Programs feature individualized academic guidance and are offered both in full-time and part-time formats.

Jointly with the Institute of Slavic Languages at the Polish Academy of Sciences, Collegium Civitas offers a PhD program in Slavic Languages and Literature.

Studies on these programs usually last 4 years, the first two of which a PhD student is supposed to spend in Warsaw since he or she is required to attend special courses at Collegium Civitas. After this period, the PhD student works in close cooperation with his/her supervisor. Hence, the shortest duration of PhD studies could be two and a half years, given that someone entered a PhD program with a clear topic in mind and managed to develop this topic into a final draft during the first two years.

Tuition fees are reasonable and amount to 4950 PLN (1125 EUR) per semester.

The application form can be downloaded here: WORD 136.50 KB  PDF 56.08 KB. The Candidate should fill it up and send to Collegium Civitas with other required documents (what the application package should contain is mentioned in the application form).
