A Word from the Rector

Collegium Civitas is a university founded in 1997 by a joint initiative of professors from the Polish Academy of Science. We created this university in order to enable young people to obtain education in social and political sciences at the level comparable to one offered by the renowned European and American universities.

We are not a mass university since the quality of instruction is our highest priority. For this reason many prominent scholars teach at Collegium Civitas: Tadeusz Gadacz, Andrzej Paczkowski, Andrzej Friszke, Henryk Domański, Włodzimierz Wesołowski, Bogdan Mach as well as other distinguished sociologists, political scientists, historians and philosophers. Among lecturers of Collegium Civitas there are also practitioners with profound personal experience in diplomacy, public administration, international organizations and the media: Ambassadors Maciej Koźmiński, Henryk Lipszyc, Robert Mroziewicz and Ryszard Żółtaniecki, Vice-President of the Parliament of the European Union Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, judge of the Constitutional Court Wiesław Johann, editors Jacek Żakowski, Grzegorz Miecugow, Michał Komar, Tomasz Wróblewski and others.

Our aim is not only to transfer to our students the fascinating knowledge, which allows for greater understanding of social phenomena, but also to facilitate the acquisition of practical skills, which can guarantee them an advantageous position on the job market and open career paths in many professional undertakings. We also strive to ensure that our students successfully study in Europe and compete with students educated at the most prestigious universities abroad without any inferiority complex. Finally, it is worth mentioning that one of the aspects of our mission is to hand down to our students fundamental values that form a good citizen, a responsible manager, an accurate professional, but before everything – an honest human being, who knows that righteous goals are achieved only by just means.
